After our daughter Camryn was born, I knew I wanted to get in shape once and for all.  I started walking 3 days a week for about 20 minutes.  And shortly there after, I increased it to 45 minutes, 5 days a week and eventually I started running and would walk/run 6 days a week for about 5 miles.  20160124_150338Whenever something got too easy for me, I pushed myself to do something a little outside my comfort zone.  I began setting goals and  in October 2015 I completed my first 5k (running with a double stroller).  Soon my neighbors saw me each morning out with the stroller and dog going for my usual loop and eventually I started getting calls saying, “I see you everyday, can you help motivate me?” ABSOLUTELY!! I started walking with others and eventually the neighborhood had a friendly competition going to see who could walk/run 50 miles during the month.  Everything was working out great- helping people, building up my endurance, setting goals and crushing them….but the only thing I was missing was I couldn’t lose the last 10 pounds from being pregnant.

I evaluated my life and realized I had my fitness under control, but had no idea how to take care of my nutrition.  I was eating poorly, and thought if I eat chips, burgers or pizza, I would just have to run an extra mile to “work it off”. My idea of eating healthy was having an apple at breakfast, or slicing up one or two carrots for dinner. Often, when my children would take a nap, I would sit on the couch and eat mozzarella sticks, chips, and any other junk food I could get my hands on…no wonder I was exhausted at the end of the day.

A few months after knowing I had to make a change-but not knowing what to do, I saw a mutual friend post about BeachBody on her Facebook page.  She made continuous posts about her upcoming Challenge Group and the opportunity to coach and make money.  I thought to myself, I’m already coaching my neighbors, so why not join BeachBody and get paid.  I signed up in January 2016, not really knowing what to do or how to do it, but there was something there that I couldn’t ignore.  There was something driving me to sign up….I took a leap of faith and never looked back.

I completed my first challenge group and was less than thrilled when I saw my results 3 weeks later.  I thought I would have jaw dropping, eye popping results…NOPE, not the case.  I looked at my results and felt so angry because you really couldn’t see a difference in my before and after pictures.  I thought, all this hard work and nothing to show.

But, after taking my measurements and weighing myself, I realized that I lost 4 inches in my waist, and 6 pounds and that gave me hope…the process was working and I just had to trust it.  This wasn’t going to be a quick fix…this was going to be a lifestyle change.  From that moment on, I pushed each day….waking up at 4am to workout before the kids woke up, meal planning and prepping, cleaning out our pantry and refrigerator of “bad” food.  August 2016I have changed our family’s diet to where we are eating clean- adding fruits and vegetables daily and keeping an eye out for portion control.  I have noticed a change in my body to where my abs are back (they disappeared a while ago), my legs and butt are toned and I finally have upper body strength.  I have much more energy and I can keep up with my 2 and 3 year old (never thought that would happen).  Even though I still have my struggles with saying NO to pizza or getting all the water I need for the day, I know I have a much better understanding on what I need to do to take care of myself and my family.
